What we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details (name, address, phone, email).
- Tax file number (TFN) and other identifiers where authorised by law and strictly for tax and super purposes.
- Financial, employment, business and investment information needed to provide accounting, tax, SMSF and bookkeeping services.
- Technical data when you use our website or client portal (for example IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed).
Why we collect it
We collect and use personal information to:
- Provide professional services you have requested and manage our relationship with you.
- Meet obligations under taxation, corporations, anti-money laundering and other applicable laws.
- Communicate with you, send service-related notices, and (where permitted) marketing you can opt out of.
- Improve our website, systems and security.
TFNs
Tax file numbers receive additional protection under tax law. We only collect, store, use and disclose TFNs for purposes authorised by taxation law and in accordance with the requirements of the Commissioner of Taxation.
Disclosure
We may disclose information to:
- The Australian Taxation Office, ASIC, AUSTRAC or other regulators where required or reasonably necessary.
- Your authorised representatives, banks, software providers or other parties you instruct us to deal with.
- Service providers who assist us (for example IT, document storage, email) under confidentiality and privacy obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle it in line with the APPs, where required.
Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords and protect access to your client portal account.
Access and correction
You may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we refuse a request, we will explain why and how you may complain.
